Lake Tekapo

One of my favorite sights was Lake Tekapo. Even though we only stopped for less than a hour, I could have stayed there for hours. Part of the Southern Alps (different than those in Europe), the mountains act as a bowl for the lake. The water was the clearest and brightest turquoise I've ever seen.

On our way!

Another of my "favorites" was the Lupin - a wild flower that is so beautiful. There were fields of these flowers and they were all colors - primarily purple, but they were also blue, white and pink.

I thought this looked like a soybean.

Proof that I was actually there

Just like my mama - taking pictures

The reason the water is so blue is because it is glacier run-off. There are special particles in glacier water, once snow, and is makes the water clear and turquoise.

On Lake Tekapo was Church of the Good Shepherd. This church meets every Sunday AND is the most photographed church in the world! BOOM! I cannot imagine a more beautiful place to worship. The church is open every day for tourists; the pastor was even there to answer questions.

If I attended this church, I would be a little distracted by that view!
