Stretching almost 5,500 miles across China, the Great Wall is definitely one of the wonder of the world. Just like a dragon stretching, this barrier took 2000 years to create. The day we were at the wall was quite hazy. Due to the large amount of people living in Beijing, the sky often looks overcast; when in fact it is haze or pollution. Nevertheless, we climbed stair after stair after stair.
My first glimpse
Our ride up the mountain - a ski lift without the snow!

There are several different entry points onto the Wall. We entered at the Mutianyu entrance - as it states above
One of the countless watch towers. Some had stairs that accessed the roof. Others did not. These towers were where the soldiers would wait and keep watch. If they saw or sensed danger or an attack, the would light a torch to signal the neighboring watching towers. As the signal spread, soldiers prepared to defend.

The Wall just keeps going and going and going
In one tower there was an area to write our name. Can you find mine?
Addlea you are an amazing young woman and I know that your family is very proud of you, yes even Tyler. I know that your mom and dad are probably very disappointed that you are not returning to the states, but the work that you are doing in Singapore has impact on so many young lives. Best wishes to you on the next year of your journey! Bob and Shelly Hansen
